MTN Nigeria gets new CEO as Ferdi Moolman stands down

 

Ferdi Moolman, current Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria will step down from his role with effect from March 1, 2021.

This was revealed on Monday by MTN in an update to shareholders. According to the update, Moolman will return to its head office in South Africa to assume the role of group chief risk officer.

Karl Toriola, who is the current vice president of MTN businesses in West and Central Africa, will replace Ferdi Moolman as the head of Nigeria operations from March1, 2021.

The successor for Toriola as the vice president of West and Central Africa operations will be announced after the group strategy review is completed by the end of November 2020.

Moolman has been with MTN since 2002 and has held several senior positions in the group in Nigeria and Iran.

MTN Group President and CEO, Ralph Mupita in a statement said “Karl brings extensive technical and commercial experience, as well as a deep understanding of the Nigeria market to the role.

“Karl started his MTN career in his home country  at MTN Nigeria 14 years ago and has all the attributes necessary to lead this very important business into the future”.
