Application is now open for the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Program 2024.
In 2008, the Canadian government initiated the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship in honor of George Philias Vanier, the first francophone Governor General of Canada.
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is a fully funded Canadian government scholarship program for Canadian and international citizens as well as permanent residents of Canada.
It is designed to attract highly qualified doctoral students to Canadian universities.
The selection criteria are based on the following 3 considerations – Academic Excellence, Research Potential, and Leadership (potential and demonstrated ability)

Application Procedures
The procedure for the award of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship follows a nominating process. Applicants must be nominated by a Canadian institution with a quota (i.e., a predetermined number of applications that can be put forward to the national competition) to host Vanier scholars.
Candidates can only be nominated by the institution they seek to study in.

Important Application Timelines:
July – November 2023: Candidates are to seek a nominating institution, then prepare and submit an application package.
November 1, 2023 (20:00 EST): Deadline for institutions to submit nominations to the Vanier CGS program.
November 2023 – March 2024: Review and evaluation of nominations.
Early April 2024: Nominees will be notified by email when the results are available
